On October 31., the symposium “Over de grens zonder overstap – Über die Grenze ohne Umstieg” took place in Enschede (Netherlands).
The number of regional rail and bus lines crossing the border is limited. This used to be different with a dense network of regional trains and buses. From The Hague (but also from Hannover and Düsseldorf) little attention is paid to cross-border public transport. The Randstad is more important. New connections across national borders, such as the Euroregions, call for regional public transport connections. It is an important condition for the economic development of the border areas.
EPF attended the event, as well as representatives of its member organisations Rover and PRO BAHN. Read the report by EPF board member Arriën Kruyt.
