As the public transport landscape continues to progress, EPF remains committed to ensuring that passengers’ needs and rights are strongly represented at the European level. Our 2024 Annual Report highlights EPF’s activities across key areas: policy advocacy, participation in EU-funded projects, and active engagement with our members. Some of the highlights from 2024 include:

Policy Work: EPF acts as a unique platform for representing passengers’ interests in policy formulation at EU level, working constructively together with other stakeholders and decision-makers to advance the interests of public transport users across Europe. Throughout 2024, EPF focused on key policy areas, including Passenger Rights: multimodal, enforcement; Air Passenger Rights – revised interpretative guidelines; Bus & Coach Passenger Rights – fact-finding study; Integrated (multimodal) information and ticketing among others. In addition to the mentioned key policy areas, EPF also identified its priorities for the political mandate of the European Parliament and of the European Commission as actions that could help unleash the potential of the public transport sector in the Union.

Project Participation: EPF participates in a wide range of EU-funded research and innovation projects, mostly focusing on communication & dissemination support, as well as stakeholder and citizen engagement activities. In 2024, EPF continued its involvement in ongoing projects such as UPPER (Unleashing the Potential of Public Transport in Europe), GEMINI (Greening European Mobility), SHOW (SHared automation Operating models for Worldwide adoption, TOD-IS-RUR (Transit Oriented Development for Inclusive and Sustainable Rural-Urban Regions) and SIGN-AIR (Implemented Synergies, data sharing contracts and Goals between transport modes and AIR transportation). In addition, EPF joined two new projects: InclusiveSpaces (Designs, Tools & Frameworks for Creating an Accessible & Inclusive Built Environment for All, for Now & for the Future) and Hyper4Rail (A Giant Leap for Loop: Towards a harmonized implementable Hyperloop concept).

Membership Engagement: EPF maintains close ties with its member associations through regular communication and quarterly general meetings. These meetings provide invaluable opportunities for exchanging information, sharing best practices, and strengthening collaborative efforts in advocating for passenger rights and interests.
