The Horizon Europe funded UPPER project, in which EPF is a project partner, aims to strengthen the role of public transport as a cornerstone of sustainable and innovative mobility across Europe. As part of this initiative, several deliverables have been published recently, providing insights and resources for unleashing the potential of urban mobility:
- D2.1 User groups’ mobility needs, motivations and patterns – the deliverable focuses on the mobility needs and motivations of public transport users across nine EU countries. Utilizing user observation, online engagement, and surveys with over 2,000 participants, the project developed user profiles in the form of Personas to inform sustainable mobility measures. The findings aim to enhance public transport systems and increase user engagement.
- D2.2 Diagnosis of public transport in Living Labs, measures refinement and expected impact – this deliverable assesses the public transport ecosystem in Living Labs and Twinning sites, offering specifications for measures which are targeted actions developed to boost public transport use by making it more attractive, accessible, and sustainable;
- D2.3 Gamified Approach for co-creating inclusive public transport solutions – this report explores the use of serious games to enhance urban and transport planning, focusing on the needs of vulnerable groups reliant on public transport;
- D3.4 Urban space allocation and design toolbox – this deliverable documents efforts to create sustainable, public transport-oriented urban spaces, emphasizing the redistribution of urban space and integration of multiple transport modes;
- D6.1 Roadmap of the use of UPPER tools – this roadmap outlines how to utilize the UPPER Measure Support toolkit to maximize the effectiveness of local measures proposed by demonstration cities;
- D4.2 PT Operation Toolbox: innovative data capturing & sharing – this report details innovative methods for data capture and sharing within public transport operations, enhancing efficiency and service quality;
- D4.4 Transition to multimodal digital transport services and user friendly multimodal nodes – this deliverable describes the development of measures related to Multimodal Digital Transport Services and Mobility as a Service (MaaS).
- D5.3 Strategies and solutions toolbox to improve public perception of PT – this report introduces Quality of Service (QoS) classes and highlights strategies implemented at various UPPER sites to enhance user satisfaction;
- D5.4 Behaviour-change oriented mechanisms to promote the use of PT – this document focuses on initiatives aimed at fostering a shift in mobility behaviour towards public transport.
Additional deliverables, such as D5.2 Toolkit to Incentivize Public Transport, and D3.5 Urban Vehicle Access Regulation Toolbox, amongst others, are also accessible on the UPPER website.
The UPPER project continues to serve as a significant step toward creating sustainable and user-friendly public transport systems in European cities, leveraging collaborative approaches and innovative solutions.
